Before You Start

Have the edamame ready, tear the basil, and set a pot with a splash of water on the stove.

How To Make It
  1. Steam the edamame in a covered pot with a splash of water over medium high heat, 4 to 5 minutes, until the pods are bright green and tender.
  2. Drain the edamame and tip it into a bowl.
  3. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, basil, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Serve hot or cold.
Fix It: If the pods taste flat, salt them while they are still hot, since the salt clings better to warm, damp pods.
Microwave
  1. Add the ingredients you would cook together to a microwave safe bowl along with their liquid.
  2. Cover loosely and microwave in one minute bursts, stirring between each, until hot through.
  3. Let it stand for a minute, then finish and plate the dish as written in the steps above.
